Vibrations, a Magraine, and Pain…OH MY!!! (Day 12)

The past week has been a roller coaster of a journey with hours spent each day at the doctors office hooked up to an IV pole. I’ve had moments of feeling better and moments of not feeling well at all. The doctor says week three of treatment is typically the week patients begin to feel better.

As I continue on this protocol to eradicate Lyme disease from my body, the treatment creates die off of the disease. Die off releases large amounts of toxins into my blood and tissues. This provokes an exaggerated inflammatory response called a Herxmeier Reaction. Herxing is a temporary worsening of the symptoms of Lyme disease that occurs when the Lyme spirochete is being killed off by treatment. The more pervasive the infection, the more severe the herxes are likely to be. I have had a myriad of reactions this week from vibrations, stabbing pains, pinching pains, a migraine, and brain fog…and don’t get me started on my picc line. Ouch!!!
~
Some Lyme patients will never experience a herx, but for the majority of patients, it is an unavoidable and unpredictable part of the process. Herxing is not fun, but most patients feel much better on the other side of the reaction.

I will continue to battle this illness with my prayer warriors standing with me. Keep fighting, fellow Lymies. It is a battle worth fighting.
