October 4, 2017…Lyme Disease can affect any organ of the body, including the brain and nervous system, muscles and joints, and the heart. Lyme Disease is millions of microscopic corkscrew bacteria that drill their way through skin, muscles, joints, bones, nerves, organs and brain tissue causing out of control inflammation and a myriad of disabling symptoms which mimic a variety of illnesses.
People who suffer from Lyme may appear “fine” on the outside yet feel like death on the inside. Simple tasks become overwhelming. You begin to hide from the world. Getting out of bed requires a whole new routine just to get your body moving. For me, evenings seem to be rough as I fight through the day to do the things I want to be doing. The joint pain and stabbing pains will stop me in my tracks and take my breath away. The backaches are brutal. Toss in a bit of insomnia and anxiety and I just become a barrel of fun.
I choose to share my story to help educate about the realities of Lyme. There is no cure. Finding a doctor who is willing and able to help can be a challenge. Many patients travel across multiple state lines seeking help from a doctor who is willing and able to treat a patient living with chronic Lyme. ~ I also share for friends reading this who are fighting battles of their own. Friends who appear “fine” on the outside but are screaming on the inside. Each of you reading this have your own story. You have your own battles to fight. Life is a journey. Sometimes we want to fly through the “hard” chapters of our book to race to the happy ending. Perhaps those hard chapters are the times we should sit back to reflect on where we have been and where we are going. God has not only read your story, He wrote it. Trust knowing that He’s got you no matter what! God’s got US! #livingwithgritandgrace #godsgotus #livingwithlyme
